1. Before you start
- An email address you can keep using long term, and that is not already attached to another Apple Account.
- A phone number that can receive verification codes. Apple verifies both email and phone number during account creation.
- Your date of birth, name, a strong password, and the country or region you want to use: United States.
- A real US billing address you can use or are authorized to use. If you do not have one, do not force a made-up address.
- If you need paid apps or subscriptions, prepare a US-supported payment method or a lawfully purchased Apple Gift Card / Apple Account balance.
2. Create a new US Apple Account
Method A: Create it in the App Store on iPhone or iPad
- Open App Store and tap the account avatar in the top-right corner.
- If another account is signed in, sign out of Media & Purchases first, then choose Create New Apple Account.
- Choose United States as the country or region.
- Enter your email, password, name, birthday, and a phone number that can receive verification codes.
- Choose the payment method shown on the page. Apple says None can appear when no purchase is required. In practice, connect to a stable US IP before creating or first signing in to the US App Store. If Apple still requires a payment method, use one accepted for the US storefront.
- Enter a real billing address, then complete email and phone verification.
Method B: Create it on the web
- 打开 account.apple.com。
- Choose to create an Apple Account and set the region to United States.
- After verifying email and phone, sign in to the App Store and finish the Media & Purchases terms, payment, and billing details.
3. Switch an existing account to the US
If you already have an Apple Account, you can change its country or region. Apple requires you to handle account balance, subscriptions, pre-orders, rentals, refunds, and similar items first.
- Spend any remaining Apple Account balance. Remaining balance usually blocks a region change.
- Cancel subscriptions that block the change, then wait until the subscription period ends.
- Wait for memberships, pre-orders, movie rentals, season passes, and pending refunds to finish.
- On iPhone, go to Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region.
- Choose United States, review and accept the terms, then enter payment and a real billing address.
4. None, US IP, and gift cards
When creating or first signing in to the US App Store, choose None if the page shows it. Apple says you are not charged when no purchase is being made.
Many users do not see None from a non-US network. Connect to a stable US IP, such as a compliant VPN, before opening the App Store to create or first sign in to the US account. If it still does not appear, follow Apple’s current page.
The US storefront usually requires a US-supported payment method, or Apple Gift Card / Apple Account balance. Payment options can change, so follow Apple’s current page.
Do not buy gift cards from unknown sources, and never share verification codes, passwords, or two-factor codes. If the account is locked or creation is blocked, follow Apple Support, try another device or network, or try again later.
5. Sales-tax-free state address helper
According to the Tax Foundation’s 2026 midyear update, US states with no statewide sales tax include Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon. Alaska has no statewide sales tax but allows local sales taxes.
6. Download SpellVPN
After creating or switching to the US App Store, use the App Store link below to download SpellVPN. The default button points to the free SpellVPN Ultra; choose SpellVPN Tool / Pro if you need the paid ad-free version.
7. FAQ
What if I cannot see None?
This can depend on the creation entry point, account status, purchase history, region page, and network location. In practice, connect to a stable US IP before creating or first signing in to the US App Store; that makes None more likely to appear. Apple does not promise that VPN or a US IP will always show None. If a payment method is still required, use a US-supported one.
What if changing region fails?
First check balance, subscriptions, pre-orders, rentals, refunds, and Family Sharing. Apple says these can block a country or region change.
Can I enter any tax-free-state address?
No. The address should be real, usable, and authorized for you. Tax and billing rules depend on Apple, payment institutions, and local law.
